Observations on the Evolution of one Dialect in Arkhangelsk Region

The article describes variability, observed in the speech of native dialect speakers of the certain locality. The research is based on the transcript of audio recordings made by the author in Stroevsky village (Ustyansky district, Arkhangelsk region) in 1995 — 1998, as well as by G. Panina in 2008. Speech of representatives of the archaic dialect layer retains the main native features of the southern dialects of Arkhangelsk region. Currently, however, the system of dialects is characterized by considerable variability of many of its elements. Variable phenomena in phonetics, grammar and vocabulary are considered in terms of reflection of dynamics of the dialect, determined, mainly, through its internal evolution.
