Abstract
The article presents excerpts from peasants’ diaries, kept by the inhabitants of different villages of the Arkhangelsk region. The study of the “naïve writing” of the 20th century makes a great contribution to linguistics — these diaries reveal certain peculiarities of speech: the lexis, the morphology and the syntax of the time. They show the everyday life the Russian peasant, the daily routine and holidays, worries and cares, attitude to nature. All these phenomena have so far received little attention in the studies of national folk culture.
