Elements of the dialectal vocabulary of the Pomor and Onega groups in the dialects of the St. Petersburg Province
Abstract
The article discusses the lexical materials of the Dictionary of Russian Folk Dialects, which testify to the process of interdialect interaction in the territories of the northern provinces of Russia in the 19th century. Dialectal vocabulary, recorded on the territory of the St. Petersburg province, has various sources of origin. The data published in the VNG allow us to reconstruct the processes of lexical “migration”, to identify the zones of the most active interdialect contacts, to determine the thematic range of vocabulary that has become widespread in neighboring dialects. The article contains examples of dialectisms related to lexico-semantic groups of landscape names and plant names. The author analyzes the obtained data in terms of the degree of correlation of word forms and their meanings, identifies complete and incomplete matches, as well as correlated lexical and semantic derivatives, which indirectly indicate the presence in the dialects of similar phenomena. The author comes to the conclusion that on the basis of the dialects of the St. Petersburg province there was a mutual influence of the dialects of the northern, western and southern dialects. This is evidenced by a comparison with the vocabulary of the northern and southern groups of the Pskov and Novgorod dialects, in particular, the names of landscape features and names of plants.
